We are now a Sunsmart School
Today we made some really cool beads that change colour when you go out in the sun. We learnt why it is important to be sunsmart and we got awarded with a plaque and certificate from the Cancer Society for becoming a Sunsmart School.

Popcorn
Alyssa and Maddison read a story during reading rotation called 'Pop, Pop, Pop' where they learnt how to cook popcorn from popcorn kernels. They wanted to try making some popcorn after this so off they went to the staffroom to do so and made enough for the entire class. Everyone enjoyed eating it and this became the writing topic for the day.

The bright yellow daffidols are big and when Spring arrives all the daffidols come out.
By Arnica-May
I love daffidols because they are yellow. I also like tulips because they are colourful.

By Maddison

The bright yellow daffidols have arrived and they look like the colour of the sun. The cute calves are born and they are playing in the calf shed. The shinning sun is now out and Spring has arrived.

Matariki
Matariki is a Māori word that can be translated as tiny eyes, or eyes of God. It is also the name for the Māori New Year celebration and the Māori name for a small group of stars (Pleiades) that drop below the horizon in April and reappear in June.
Ciska from the senior room sharing a star that she created to celebrate Matariki this month.
We have also been celebrating Matariki by learning how to weave.
We hope you can come to our Matariki event on the 6th of July.
Check our the artwork we created to celebrate Matariki.

We have had a student teacher in our classroom
Room 3 morning class in Term 2
We have enjoyed having a student teacher from Otago University in our classroom for the past two weeks.
We hope she has a great trip overseas. She showed us where she was going on our jigsaw world map.
We really love the books she gave us and have them in our classroom library. So thankful!
