Matariki

Matariki is a Māori word that can be translated as tiny eyes, or eyes of God. It is also the name for the Māori New Year celebration and the Māori name for a small group of stars (Pleiades) that drop below the horizon in April and reappear in June.

Check our the artwork we created to celebrate Matariki.

Ciska from the senior room sharing a star that she created to celebrate Matariki this month.

We have also been celebrating Matariki by learning how to weave.

We made our own lanterns for the Matariki evening this term.

We hope you can come to our Matariki event on the 6th of July.
